Sectie-C - THE POOL

Join us for an interesting series of workshops that stimulates creativity, creates new connections, and strengthen your artistic network in Eindhoven. Led by three experts in their respective fields, the Sectie-C Spring School offers a deep exploration of the concept of Home.Exhibition opens on May 10th. Workshop dates are Saturdays May 18th, 25th &amp; June 1stParticipation is free. For young creatives aged 18 and above.

Workshop 1/3 Home, what is it? Lead by Jord van den Berg Supported by Corradino Garofalo.Using the power of rationality and the Laws of Physics to give expression and meaning to an important &amp; common but very intangible concept.Home, the place you go back to after interacting with others. Does ‘home’ exists if you were the only person in the world? Is Earth our ultimate home for all of us? Is life predicable or chaotic? How do our choices affect it? Does it matter?In this workshop, Jord will help you engage with these questions in a playful way. Leaving a trace based on your choices for all to savor and do some Physics in the meantime. Let’s have some fun! Workshop 2/3 Building Home in Fragrance Lead by Frank Bloem Supported by Nur Horsanali.In this workshop led by Frank Bloem, participants will delve into their olfactory senses, reflecting on the ‘feeling at home’ through scent. They will explore which fragrances evoke that comforting sense of belonging. What scents trigger familiarity? How do scents evoke memories? Can certain scents transport you to a specific time or place? Throughout the workshop, participants will be introduced to the theoretical foundations of scent composition and mixing fragrances. Guided step by step, they'll learn to combine top, middle, and base notes to create their own room fragrances sourced from a diverse scent library. Workshop 3/3 Transforming Traditions Lead by Delphine Hyvrier Supported by Olga Flór.Traditions play a significant role in the sense of being at home. Participants will work together to explore which traditions are important to them. We challenge participants to consider what traditions actually mean: What is a tradition exactly? Are they fixed? Or can you also create new traditions yourself? For this workshop, Delphine Hyvrier (FR) is invited.Delphine is an artist who focuses on communities that have had to change their way of life out of necessity. For instance, she has researched self-sustaining farming communities in the Alps and French Guiana that have been displaced from their original homes to make way for a large dam or rocket launch site. Through interviews with those involved and research in archives, she describes the effect of these changes on these people. During the workshop, Delphine, together with the participants, will focus on a local case: cricket in Eindhoven.Cricket is an important sport for many expatriates. Together with the participants, she will engage in discussions with cricket players at a local club. The sport provides a starting point for a conversation about traditions and rituals. Because how do expatriates experience their new home? And what role does cricket play in that? How do their customs in the Netherlands differ from those in their home country?

Coffee, tea, and snacks will be provided during the sessions, along with lunches and dinners (depending on the schedule). The outcomes and processes of the workshops will be documented, and the photos will be shared with you afterwards.
