How The Book Could Read Us?

Nieuwe Instituut is het nationale museum voor architectuur, design en digitale cultuur. Nieuwe Instituut houdt zich bezig met de grote ontwikkelingen in de maatschappij, zoals de krapte op de woningmarkt, de energietransitie, de opkomst van kunstmatige intelligentie, mobiliteit of het gebruik van de publieke ruimte. Ontwerpers, waaronder architecten en digitale makers, kunnen aan die ontwikkelingen een belangrijke bijdrage leveren. Nieuwe Instituut toont het werk van ontwerpers, brengt mensen met elkaar in contact, verzamelt, ontwikkelt en deelt kennis.

This workshop explores the relationship of bookshelves that reflect the thoughts, spirit, discourse and practice of collective living rooms.

<p>The living room has the function of receiving guests and displaying the nuances and spirit of the whole house. In Indonesia, where several collective practices are growing as robustly as a forest, the design of the collective space and the function of the living room have nuances, functions and spirits that are slightly different from those of the home. In the art collective space, the living room is mostly used as a multifunctional common space: as a living room, office, café or other public leisure space where people can spend time in discussion and making friends. In certain art collectives, the library and the bookshelves are the central focus reflecting the spirit of the collective space. This workshop explores the relationship of bookshelves that reflect the thoughts, spirit, discourse and practice of collective living in the living room. The session will also explore the extent to which the book can tell us something about the living room.&nbsp;</p>
