About this event

This event will be hosted every Monday from 15h00 to 17h30 (CET Netherlands) from 25 October - 15 November 2021.

Our dedicated self-care Zoom space

Program Details:

Triggers might cause emotional distress such as anxiety, panic, despair and negative thoughts. Sometimes triggers can cause an emotional reaction before we even become aware that we are upset and can be difficult for us and those around us to handle. Triggers are often connected to our thoughts, experiences and memories of a traumatic or unpleasant event in our lives.

Some find the word trigger already triggering. This workshop will assist you with what to do when you are experiencing triggers and to understand what you might need when your emotions are high. It may be beneficial to keep a diary during these weeks (and beyond) in order to become aware of what triggers your experience and how you might respond to them.

By participating in this program attendees will explore the following:

  • How to live more in the present moment rather than living in your past
  • Discover your own personal triggers
  • Learn how you can befriend your triggers
  • Understand where triggers come from

Who is this program for: For everyone who would like to become more aware and become more well in your being.

A 2.5 hour live-online session will be held each week and will cover the following topics:

Week 1: Mind (25 October 2021)

Triggers can be felt and experienced in many ways, the first week we will look at what thought patterns and negative thinking triggers are, and we explore different ways in which you can choose to deal with these triggers. We can find community by sharing our findings with one another and, should you feel comfortable to do so, you are welcome to share your findings on how mental triggers affect you.

Week 2: Body (1 November 2021)

Bodily triggers can be challenging, maybe you become anxious, and your body will feel lightheaded and shaky. What are bodily triggers, how do you deal with those bodily triggers and what are ways to become aware of your body are some of the questions we will discuss as well as ways in which you are able to relieve your body from triggers when they arise. Sometimes because of the amount of triggers we experience, over time we may exhaust our bodies. This week we explore and learn more about the effects triggers have on your body. You are welcome to share your experience with body triggers during our community discussion.

Week 3: Social (8 November 2021)

Social triggers, feeling left-out or perhaps your family triggers you in ways that you find difficult to deal with. This week we will look at what those social triggers are, what the negative thinking thought patterns are, where you can feel it in your body, and we will explore ways in which you are able to deal with these social triggers. We will also discuss how cultural triggers and awareness may affect you. Our community discussion will focus on personal social triggers where you can share your experiences should you choose to do so.

Week 4: Your Window of Tolerance (15 November 2021)

During the last week we will explore your window of tolerance with all the knowledge you’ve gained in the past 3 weeks. We will take time and space to explore and develop your window of tolerance by using any medium of your choice. You are able to work on this between week 3 and 4 and prepare your window of tolerance. During this week you are welcome to share your findings with one another by sharing the ways in which you handle your triggers and what your window of tolerance is. We would also like to explore how you can set up boundaries in order to be able to care for your triggers when they arise.
