Nadieh Bremer — Psychology of Seeing
Although we behave successfully in the world, we do not see it according to physical reality. Our mind plays tricks on us without us noticing. After convincing you of the shortcuts and assumptions that our mind makes, Nadieh will show you how you can use this knowledge to improve your data visualizations and use these tricks to make data understanding even faster and more intuitive
After graduating as an astronomer, Nadieh became a data scientist finding insights in the vast amounts of data that are hidden within many companies. It took a few years, but she finally figured out that she loved the visualization of the data and insights even more than the analysis itself.
Since then, she has been spending most of her evening and weekends reading about the subject, creating personal projects, and sharing lessons learned from her experiments on her blog, VisualCinnamon.com. She works as a freelance data visualisation designer and artist. You should work with her.
Her favorite data visualizations border on the data art side while still conveying insights.
Is this for everyone?
As always, this Icons meetup is for everyone. For students and lecturers of CMD Amsterdam. For professionals who are looking for some inspiration. After the meetups there will be plenty of time to meet each other in an informal environment. An excellent opportunity for students to meet with agencies, and for agencies it’s a great opportunity to meet with our most ambitious students.
This talk will be in Dutch if everybody in the audience understands Dutch.
