Indigo Together is a community project that brings people in Amsterdam together to grow indigo and create a network of local indigo gardens.The purpose of this project is to expand indigo cultivation with the help of local neighbors. From planting indigo to extracting pigments and dyeing fabric, we follow the full process together. Through these steps, we build a strong connection with nature and contribute to more sustainable textile practices.Producing textiles using 100% local ingredients is becoming increasingly important for the future of sustainable fashion.April and May are the seasons for transplanting indigo plants from the greenhouse into the ground. From July to September, we harvest the plants and extract indigo pigments. At the end of November, we distribute indigo seeds to participants for the following year.Indigo dyeing requires this entire process to create blue-dyed fabric, and we warmly welcome the support and participation of our neighbors. Our Project Token At the end of the extraction process, we will create an indigo patchwork artwork using locally collected denim scraps as a final result.We hope to realize products that are 100% made in Amsterdam, using local fabrics and dyeing them with indigo grown in the city, supported by our local community. Our brand is called “Blue Monkey.”To support this project, we propose the “Blue Monkey Token” (MKY), a cryptocurrency created on the Polygon network.We will distribute MKY tokens to participants as a reward, creating our own token-based local ecosystem. This project is an experimental approach and a challenge toward transforming the future of textile production.
