Inner Landscape - collage workshop
A cozy March reset through intuitive collage, and the quiet joy of discovering what your inner landscape wants to say.
This Warsha workshop is a cozy moment to check in with yourself, hosted by guest artist Leonie Hillmann. Already a bit into the year, the fresh-year energy has started to wear off (maybe it never kicked in), and February can feel dull. Collaging is a great way to create intuitively, because we don’t start with a confronting white canvas, but with a pile of old magazines in front of us.
Everyone can use scissors and glue, so you don’t need to master a technique like drawing or painting to express yourself visually.
After a short introduction to a few simple techniques to help you drop into the right headspace, we’ll begin by picking images we feel drawn to. From there, we’ll build our collage, our “inner landscape.”
What are we feeling? What are we drawn to? What might that mean?
Materials
All the materials are provided. If you have a notebook you’d like to collage in, feel free to bring it. And if you have old magazines or catalogues you no longer need, you’re welcome to bring those too.
One small request: please don’t print specific images beforehand, this workshop is all about intuitive making and discovering what shows up in the moment.
About the host
This workshop is hosted by guest artist Leonie Hillmann at Warsha. As a designer and artist, collaging is Leonie’s preferred way to start a project. It helps her find topics that are connected to the work, even before she has the words for them. In her personal journaling practice, collaging is also a way to check in with herself, process emotions, and sometimes surface things she wasn’t aware of before.
