International Clinic: Residencies

Nieuwe Instituut is het nationale museum voor architectuur, design en digitale cultuur. Nieuwe Instituut houdt zich bezig met de grote ontwikkelingen in de maatschappij, zoals de krapte op de woningmarkt, de energietransitie, de opkomst van kunstmatige intelligentie, mobiliteit of het gebruik van de publieke ruimte. Ontwerpers, waaronder architecten en digitale makers, kunnen aan die ontwikkelingen een belangrijke bijdrage leveren. Nieuwe Instituut toont het werk van ontwerpers, brengt mensen met elkaar in contact, verzamelt, ontwikkelt en deelt kennis.

In this practical session, the International Clinic will explore international residency opportunities for creative professionals.

This edition of the International Clinic, organised in collaboration with DutchCulture/TransArtists and led by Bojana Panevska, explores residency opportunities abroad through practical guidance and critical reflection. What happens during and after a residency, and how can creatives engage with these programmes in a regenerative and meaningful way?The number of residencies for designers, makers and architects around the world is growing. However, understanding the opportunities, expectations and structures that they offer can be overwhelming. This edition of the International Clinic explores the complexities of international residency programmes through a practical session. Organised in collaboration with DutchCulture/TransArtists, it provides practical guidance and critical insights for individuals looking to develop their work internationally. There will also be a discussion with a -1 Digital Lab Resident at Nieuwe Instituut, Alexandra Martens Serrano.Bojana Panevska, an advisor at DutchCulture/TransArtists, is leading the event. This organisation helps artists and cultural institutions navigate international residency programmes and other forms of cross-border collaboration. Drawing on her extensive experience of international programmes and supporting artists, Bojana will lead this interactive workshop on how to get started, what to look out for, how to prepare and strategies for planning a regenerative and meaningful residency.A networking drinks reception will follow the session, where you can meet peers, exchange ideas and expand your network.

Organised quarterly in partnership with DutchCulture, Creative Industries Fund NL and the diplomatic network, the International Clinics focus on various aspects of international cooperation and exchange. As well as learning about different opportunities, participants can share international knowledge, experiences and networks to stimulate and sustain meaningful collaborations.
