International School of Brussels Choir, Band and Strings will be performing in Heidelberg - come and enjoy their music!

The Symphonic Band is the premier wind ensemble at the International School of Brussels, comprised of students from across the Upper School. With students from vastly different cultural and educational backgrounds, the primary focus is making music together while working toward both individual and shared goals. The Symphonic Band focuses on developing strong ensemble musicianship, musical independence, and a deep sense of responsibility to the group through challenging and meaningful repertoire. Rehearsals emphasize listening, collaboration, and reflection, while students are encouraged to take on leadership roles within the ensemble, supporting one another as musicians and as a community.<ul><li>Tony Passaro - Director of Bands and Jazz Ensembles</li><li>Tania Absillis - Associate Band Teacher</li></ul>The Symphonic Band will perform a selection from the repertoire listed below:<ul><li>Giroux, J. - Our Castaways</li><li>Sheldon, R. - The Blue Ridge</li><li>Bukvich, D. - Electricity</li><li>Wagner, D.E. - December Joy</li><li>Holsinger, D. - A Childhood Hymn</li><li>Sousa, J. Fennell, F. - Pride of the Wolverines</li></ul> The Advanced Strings Ensemble of the International School of Brussels is a dynamic string orchestra of over 40 students from over 20 nationalities. Rehearsing two to three times per week, the ensemble explores advanced repertoire ranging from classical works to jazz, film music, and music composed by its own students. A strong focus on student leadership allows senior musicians to perform as soloists, lead sections, and conduct, fostering independence, collaboration, and artistic excellence.<ul><li>Violeta Fernández Torres - Strings Director</li><li>Cornelle du Toit - Associate Strings Teacher</li></ul>The Advanced Strings ensemble will perform a selection from the repertoire listed below:<ul><li>H. P Epworth: Skyfall (Riley Paelink, guitar &amp; voice)</li><li>B. Howard / arr. A Scelzo: Fly me to the Moon (Eren Kaleli, cello)</li><li>A. Vivaldi: Summer from The Four Seasons (Nicolò Trezzi &amp; Junwei Ni, violin)</li></ul> HS Choir - The Choral Program at the International School of Brussels is a vibrant, high-level musical community where artistry, curiosity, and collaboration thrive. Students engage with a rich and varied repertoire spanning classical masterworks, contemporary choral writing, jazz, musical theatre, and global traditions, developing both technical excellence and expressive confidence. With an emphasis on vocal health, and ensemble skill, choirs at ISB are challenged to perform at a high standard while exploring music as a powerful form of cultural and personal expression.
