Invitation to all Italian language enthusiasts and learners who are looking to refine their Italian grammar skills: our Italian grammar workshop series is starting in September, and our first topic is the present tense.
The most common conversations in Italian often rely on the present tense. We use the present tense when talking about daily activities, sharing preferences, or making near-future plans, but using it correctly can be tricky, especially when juggling the three groups of verbs (-are, -ere, -ire) along with irregular verbs that don’t always follow the rules.
In this workshop with Luca, you’ll review verb structures, practice irregular forms, and explore common combinations such as avere/essere/fare with adjectives or nouns. You’ll strengthen your ability by building clear sentences in Italian, following the standard word order: subject, verb, object, adjective. For more advanced students, we’ll also touch on the “presente storico” (vivid present or historical present), which is commonly used in historical biographies.
During the workshop, you’ll review verb forms, take part in engaging activities and games, and most importantly, put everything into practice through speaking. By the end, you’ll be able to use the present tense more naturally and confidently.

This workshop is open to everyone and suitable for students with an A1-A2 level. Students with a higher level are also welcome if they can use a refresher. When you sign up for the workshop, please indicate in the comments whether you’re a Taalhuis student and your Italian proficiency level, so that we can plan the lessons accordingly.
