The exhibition Emotional Motions tells the raw and vulnerable story of its main character Silva, but it also touches on themes that many of us grapple with. How do you make space for everything you feel? And what do you do with emotions that don’t quite fit, but live somewhere between different worlds?
Behind the exhibition is the queer ensemble Pensive Vivifier, usually found on stage. On Thursday, August 14 and Thursday, August 28, they will perform live try-outs of their new show It’s a Feeling. Emotional Motions not only showcases their earlier research for this production but also serves as a playground for their theatrical experiments.
Around the try-outs, there will be conversations with creators, thinkers, and care providers about these themes. Curious about what Pensive Vivifier and their special guests will bring? Take the chance to be among the first to catch a glimpse of what they’ll present later at the Fringe Festival.
It’s a Feeling x Jesse van den Berg
On Thursday, August 14, we invite artist and photographer Jesse van den Berg to reflect on It’s a Feeling together with Pensive Vivifier. Both Jesse and Pensive Vivifier use vulnerability, intimacy, and uncompromising honesty to question what’s considered “normal” and enthusiastically stretch those boundaries.
Jesse van den Berg’s work is an ongoing exploration of how queerness expresses itself in themself and those around them. In their personal portraits, you’re invited to see the subjects in all their vulnerability, without any prior knowledge of their physicality.
For this occasion, MU will stay open extra late, giving you plenty of time to visit Emotional Motions and FEAR OF MIRRORS as well.
