Justice matters now more than ever. Around the world, <a href="https://worldjusticeproject.org/rule-of-law-index/" title="https://worldjusticeproject.org/rule-of-law-index/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">the rule of law is weakening</a>, justice gaps are widening and <a href="https://www.unhcr.org/mid-year-trends" title="https://www.unhcr.org/mid-year-trends" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">forced displacement</a>, <a href="https://acleddata.com/conflict-index/" title="https://acleddata.com/conflict-index/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">conflict, and political instability</a> are rising. The need for action has never been greater. Amidst this backdrop, critical funding is being cut and the once foundational values of justice, human rights and the rule of law are being questioned.That is why HiiL, in partnership with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Municipality of The Hague, is convening the Justice Matters Conference. This gathering will bring together national leaders, policymakers, and investors to reinforce the importance of people-centred justice systems and identify ways to promote and prioritise its implementation across the globe. “Justice is not charity – it is a smart pragmatic investmentin global security, stability and economic growth”– Udo Jude Ilo - CEO, The Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL) Set in the historic Peace Palace in The Hague, this full-day conference will showcase how people-centred justice programming is making justice systems more effective and contributing to stability and economic development .
