Kindertaalcafé – Sinterklaas Edition
Amsterdam is one of the most multicultural cities in Europe, and every day our school welcomes students from diverse language backgrounds – including children. Every two months, Taalhuis Amsterdam transforms the school into a language playground for families and young language enthusiasts: the Kindertaalcafé.
During this special morning, children and parents can enjoy a multilingual reading carousel, a creative workshop, and a cozy community lunch. It’s a wonderful opportunity for families to connect, learn, and play in an inspiring international environment.
Sinterklaas Theme
As Sinterklaas is celebrated on 5 December, this edition of the Kindertaalcafé is all about Sinterklaas traditions. Together we will bake pepernoten, listen to Sinterklaas stories, and explore gift-giving traditions from different cultures.
Our volunteer teachers and parents will read books in Dutch, Greek, Italian, and Turkish. Is your language missing from the list? You are warmly invited to bring your own book and share a story in your language.
What to Expect
- Reading carousel with stories in multiple languages
- Creative children’s workshop in the café with coffee, tea, and croissants for parents
- Lunch buffet from 12:00 to 13:00
- A welcoming and open atmosphere for families from all cultural backgrounds
The Kindertaalcafé is more than a morning of play and reading—it’s a place to connect with Amsterdam’s multicultural community, exchange ideas, and celebrate language diversity.
