The next GHG film night is on August 30. We will be screening the Brazilian movie Estômago, accompanied by Brazilian bites and drinks!

This summer, Groot Handelsgebouw (GHG) and International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) are cooking up something good. From July to September, you're invited to a free program of four films that fuse culinary and cinematic delight – with bites and tunes to complement each film. From ramen in Tokyo to coxinha in São Paulo, claim a seat and join us for a feast of cinematic flavor. Designed with our international audience in mind, all screenings will be presented in English or with English subtitles. <h3>The Program:</h3>Date: Friday August 30 Walk in: 8PM Brazilian-inspired food and drinks for sale Film starts: 9PM After: 11PM Stay for a few more drinks and some bites <h3>About the film:</h3>Estômago dir. Marcos Jorge, 2007, Brazil. The film is with English subtitles. After moving from the Northeast of Brazil to São Paulo, Nonato finds a way to get by with his skills as a cook, first in a seedy bar and then in an Italian restaurant. Life’s tough lessons catch up with him and he ends up in prison, but his talents in the kitchen shine brighter. In a world where you either eat or get eaten, Estômago is a delightful fable that reveals the transformative power of food and the resilience of the human spirit.

<h3>Upcoming screenings: </h3><h4>September 27: Délicieux</h4>The revolution starts in the kitchen, according to the French period comedy-drama Délicieux. Chef Pierre is fired from an aristocratic house after serving an unconventional dish. Disgraced, he retreats to the countryside where he is inspired by Louise to open the very first restaurant in France on the eve of revolution. Set amidst a lush countryside backdrop, this is a feel-good fusion of trailblazing cuisine with a radical spirit.
