About this event
The Listening Club is taking a break to work on future projects. This will be our last event of the year, make sure you're there!
On the 30th of November we will once again host an open listening session, ‘open’ in the sense that we like to hear what you (the participants) like to listen to! So bring your own records, CD’s, MP3s and/or Spotify tracks (max 7 min) and tell us more about your enthusiasm for these particular songs and why. We particularly encourage you to bring a song that you think others haven't heard before, to promote discovery.
Every open listening session is centered around a specific theme. The theme for this session will be "borders". Musicians often base their identy on a certain place. They either feel like they belong or don't belong to this place, delineated by physical or figurative borders. This influences the way music sounds in various ways. Songs can also cross borders by mixing certain genres or styles. Looking forward to hear your picks!
Before we get started with the open session, listening sessions regular Jelle Posthuma will give a short lecture on jazz, and the way it was used as a diplomatic tool during the second world war.
Entry to the session is free, but donations are encouraged after the session.
Hope to see you there!
