About this workshop: Every expat has a story to tell. What’s your story, and - more importantly - what is the right way to share it? Join this workshop to learn more about the things that make a good story, and pick up some invaluable tips to harness the immense power of storytelling in your personal or professional life.

In this workshop, the Dutch International Storytelling Centre (DISC) will help you uncover your inner master storyteller by gaining an understanding of why we connect with particular stories. During the workshop, you will be introduced to one of the best tools for sense-making of stories, the Adaptive Action Cycle, a process that helps us spot patterns and draw meaning from stories. Towards the end of the workshop, you will get the chance to participate in telling a short story of what a better future of The Hague might look like, followed by a group discussion. You’ll leave with a smile on your face, a few new friends, and a new tool in your toolbox!

Your host, Connor McMullen, is a freelance story engineer, American football coach, and the Dutch International Storytelling Centre’s resident millennial. DISC hosts monthly storytelling cafés all around The Hague: in parks, on the streets, in cosy community gardens, and sometimes on boats! They also offer storytelling workshops and special storytelling events throughout the year in collaboration with NGOs like Justice & Peace, theatre groups like AATG, and professional storytellers like Ashley Ramsden.

Important note: Workshop seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. You need to arrive at the workshop space 15 minutes early to ensure you get a seat.
