About this Event
Like every year Doek presents a new festival, emphasizing everyone’s need to improvise, especially at this moment in time. At the BIMHUIS, the festival hosts two concerts by two groups that dare to strip down to the core, experiment with sound and open up for interaction. The late concert wil be performed by LOOT, the new project of pianist Oscar Jan Hoogland featuring Ab Baars, Uldis Vitols and Onno Govaert.
Let the piano speak and find out what it has to say: this approach to playing the piano formed the starting point for the compositions Oscar Jan Hoogland wrote especially for LOOT. It’s also the approach that characterizes the other players in LOOT: masterful improvisers who let their instruments speak and who contribute to the versatility of the music through their own strong, individual voices.

“In this new work we find a powerful mix between clearly building on the tradition of jazz and fresh, playful experiments, in which we clearly recognise the signature of Hoogland.”
