We’ll explore inspiring photobooks together and learn some techniques to help you have fun taking photos.

6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Play

You don’t need a fancy camera, your phone has a camera too! Let’s meander around the block up to Patterson park at sunset, we’ll get hands-on by spotting patterns and framing your shots.

7:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Create

After our walk, we’ll take a look at your photos together and choose our favorites while enjoying a beverage at the bar.

Meander around the block with Lyon this September for our new Photo Workshop - Whether you’re feeling inspired to take photos for the first time or you're a seasoned photographer seeking community, come explore your creativity with us.

Lyon van den Oord teaches design and animation at MICA and Baltimore School for the Arts. His work celebrates play, curiosity, and exploration, capturing life's energy through a lens of wonder.

Do I need a camera?

No need for a fancy camera, the best camera you have is the one you have on you, your phone works very well!

Do I need prior photography experience?

No, this workshop is meant for all skill levels, whether you're taking photos for the first time and need some guidelines, or if you're a professional and you'd like a different perspective - the main goal is to build community with fellow creative people.

Do I need to know how to use the settings on my camera?

In this workshop, we'll focus on the photo-taking creative process and not the technical camera process, so bring a device or use an automatic mode on your camera so it doesn't distract or frustrate you while we're out taking photos.

How will we view the photos we took on our walk?

Bringing your laptop or tablet to view your photos on a larger screen would be helpful, but not required, the most important thing to bring is yourself.
