Mental Freedom
An interactive discussion of freedom of the mind and mental prisons we love to put ourselves in.
Mental Freedom
We all run our lives according to social conventions. Some are obvious - like the expectation to have a job, a steady income, and a community where you fit in. Others less so - the expectation to live with a purpose, have a circle of friends, and maintain an upbeat attitude toward life. The hard thing about social conventions is that we don't know where they stop and where our self begins. As a result, we often don't have a sense of mental freedom - what it means to think, feel, and believe in a free way. In this Philosophy Salon, we will start addressing and explaining mental prisons, conventions, and the way a human being can be bound - and freed.
Meeting Information
Doors open at 18:45 and close at 19:10. Please be on time! We won't be able to accommodate attendees arriving after 19:10.
Philosophy Salons
The Philosophy Salons are gatherings of curious people to explore big ideas with an open mind. The Philosophy Salons were created by Anya Farennikova, a philosopher of mind based in Amsterdam. We dive deep into beliefs and ideas, dive out, and have fun along the way!
