Misanthrope trio is an avant garde jazz noise guitar trio that brings together Portuguese guitarist Luis Lopes along with the rhythm section from Dutch jazzcore trio Albatre, with Portuguese Gonçalo Almeida on bass guitar and German drummer Philipp Ernsting, to create an innovative and unconventional musical experience.

Improvisation provides a foundation for the trio to explore new sonic territories where noise, with its emphasis on distortion, feedback, and unorthodox sound sources, adds a layer of unpredictability and experimentation to the music.

Luis Lopes is a versatile guitarist who is capable of a wide range of sounds and techniques and serves as the primary voice of the trio, allowing for expressive and adventurous improvisation.

Together, these musicians create a unique and boundary-pushing musical experience that challenges traditional notions of jazz and pushes the boundaries of what is possible in a guitar trio setting.

Presenting the second album GUT LIVER which is the result of their previous excursion in the Benelux, resulting in two live tracks on Cylinder Recordings label.
