Missing Maps Groningen
Event Information
Description
A Missing Maps Event will be held in Groningen on the 10th of November, in collaboration with the Netherlands Red Cross, American Red Cross, OpenStreetMap Foundation and University of Groningen.
At a missing maps event, regions in crisis are mapped by a large group of people in order to support disaster and humanitarian relief in this area. For the first time this event will be organised in the northern Netherlands. During this event we will support Red Cross teams stationed in Benin and South Africa.
After a short introduction by the Red Cross (how maps support their work in Benin and South Africa) and an explanation by OpenStreetMap volunteers (how to start editing in OpenStreetMap), we will roll up our sleeves and get to work using satellite imagery especially made available for this project. There will be several people present to help you get going.
The more people will come, the more we can map, the more we can help the Red Cross do their work. So feel free to join. No mapping experience needed. Just bring your laptop and enthousiasm, and an interesting event is guaranteed!
Be there or be some kind of an euclidean geometrical shape!
