Following the success of the last Mobile Unconference in The Hague, the Netherlands, we have planned to organize a new Mobile Unconference on October 27th 2014. The Mobile Unconference is a one-day event, similar to BarCamp and other community meet-ups. For the sixth time, the event will be organized in The Hague and this time with a special connection to Security and Safety during crisis situations.
As always, we bring together (international) mobile app and game developers to exchange knowledge and discuss the latest technologies and challenges in the mobile ecosystem. In the past, we have already successfuly piggybacked on existing events and this has always proven to be a successful formula for a connection with non-developers too. So, we want to try something new: connect every edition of the Mobile Unconference to another specialist field of expertise.
Security & Safety During Crisis Situations
The first coonection we're gonna make is to Security & Safety in Crisis Situations. So NGO’s, security companies, governmental and humanitarian organizations and research institutions in the field of cyber-, national-, urban-, infrastructure-, and forensic security with a mobile heart on the lookout for innovation are invited too. This is all done in an informal setting where every visitor makes a part of the Unconference. The stage is yours!
Picture this: in a crisis you have to create situation awareness. For yourself and your team. There are a number of sources available, but how to access them quickly, combine them with other sources and decide on reliability of the information? What support is there to compile one “picture” (words, photo’s, maps) that you can share with your partners?
What are the possibilities and challenges for realtime intelligence during a crisis and for the tools to support different actors in the field, in the crisisroom, in the mayorsoffice?
Picture this: comfort, resolution, tracking, software, ergonomics, optics, industrial design, and the overall Virtual Reality experience are combined to make way for serious games and incident experience.
What possible applications could there be for Oculus Rift, Google Glass and other tools?
Anyone can come, as a speaker or just as a guest. Sessions can be submitted before or during the unconference. Sessions will be scheduled based on popularity. Sessions can be presentations, workshops or group discussions. No product pitches! The results; cool stories, creative ideas, new business connections, fresh insights, a good lunch, nice drinks and a good laugh.
We expect 150 participants (approximately 50% developers) to join the Mobile Unconference. Traditionally 80% of the visitors are from the organizing country. In the past we had guests from Japan, Canada, UK, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.
Why Would This Interest You?
The event is organized “by developers for developers” with a special interest in Safety & Security in crisis situations. It is a democratic, two directional event and allows you to interact with targeted audience in a balanced way. An international event widens the horizon of the participants and allows you to be part of a energetic and inspirational event.
