Join us for the 4th edition of our Net Zero Value Chains event during New York Climate Week!
As companies work to reduce Scope 3 emissions—often representing over 80% of their total carbon footprint—they face persistent challenges in navigating a constantly evolving regulatory landscape and complex, dynamic value chains with limited traceability. These hurdles not only complexify emissions accounting but also hinder companies from taking credible, scalable action toward their climate goals.
Meanwhile, new opportunities are emerging to unlock how Scope 3 emissions reductions can be credibly claimed and reported. Innovations such as the Supply Shed concept and the use of market-based mechanisms (MBMs) are opening up pathways for companies to drive emissions reductions across their value chains. While MBMs are not yet fully recognized for progress towards science-based targets and other regulatory frameworks, they represent a powerful tool for incentivizing action and unlocking impact at scale. Since 2017, the Value Change Initiative (VCI) has been dedicated to tackling the complexities of Scope 3 emissions, working closely with over 550 stakeholders to develop actionable strategies and solutions for impactful change and credible emission reductions.
This year’s event will bring together industry leaders, standards organizations, and sustainability experts to explore practical solutions and emerging pathways for credible Scope 3 decarbonization. We’ll dive into how companies are overcoming traceability barriers, leveraging MBMs such as activity pools and Supply Sheds, and aligning with leading standards to drive real impact.
What to expect:
- Insights from leading standards bodies on the latest updates and future outlook for corporate Scope 3 reporting and what it means for companies
- Real-world examples of how pioneering companies leverage innovative market-based mechanisms to tackle challenges like limited traceability
- A collaborative space to connect with peers and shape the future of net-zero value chains
