New Store Product Drop

‘Edele mineralen’, lokale koffiekopjes, of verantwoorde Franse wollen kleren? Kom naar de lancering van vijf nieuwe producten in de New Store! Deze product drop is de eerste activiteit van de regeneratieve museumwinkel van het Nieuwe Instituut waarbij je de producten meteen kunt aanschaffen en meenemen. Je krijgt een kijkje achter de schermen, je ontmoet ontwerpers en je hebt een primeur op de mooiste, spannendste en meest toegankelijke voorbeelden van design dat bijdraagt aan een regeneratieve productieketen.

De producten die New Store bij deze gelegenheid ‘dropt’ zijn: de zandsieraden van Studio IF, het katoenen ondergoed UnderGarden van Iris Veentjer, de Oyster Mushroom Growkit van Rotterzwam, het herbruikbare koffie-keramiek Coffee-to-throw van Fabrikaat in samenwerking met Jatiwangi Art Factory en het ROEM Institute en ten slotte de regeneratieve kleding ontworpen door Ása Bríet Brattaberg in samenwerking met LOADS Collection en Collectif Tricolor.

Over de producten

Ontwerper Irma Földényi ‘leent’ met haar zandsieraden van de natuur. Ze maakt haar ontwerpen door zand te mengen met een natuurlijk bindmiddel. Zodra de sieraden in contact komen met water lossen ze op, waardoor het zand In zijn natuurlijke cyclus terugkeert.

UnderGarden is een regeneratieve ondergoedlijn zonder chemicaliën en synthetische materialen. Als je UnderGarden aan het einde van zijn levenscyclus is gekomen, kun je het ondergoed begraven met de zaadjes die bij je aankoop zijn inbegrepen, waarna de UnderGarden een bron van nieuw leven wordt.

Met de Oyster Mushroom Grow Kit kan je paddenstoelen kweken in je eigen keuken. Koffiedik krijgt een tweede leven als voedingsbodem waarin paddenstoelen kunnen floreren.

Coffee-to-throw cups zijn een alternatief voor de schadelijke productie van de traditionele keramiekindustrie en plastic wegwerpbekertjes. De ongebakken klei en het waterbestendige bijenwas zorgen ervoor dat ze een paar keer hergebruikt kunnen worden voor warme dranken, maar de bekers lossen op in koud water wanneer ze klaar zijn om weggegooid te worden.

De selectie van wollen kledingstukken die Ása Bríet Brattaberg heeftontworpen is handmatig en binnen een regeneratieve wolproductiecyclus geproduceerd en was ook tijdens de Paris Design Week te zien voor New Store pop-up 4.0.

New Store

Met het New Store project heroverweegt het Nieuwe Instituut de traditionele verhoudingen tussen grondstoffen, werk en uitwisseling door de mogelijkheden van regeneratief winkelen te verkennen. Ontwerpers die uitproberen hoe ze op alternatieve manieren hun producten kunnen creëren en verkopen zijn uitgenodigd om aan te sluiten bij de proeftuin van New Store.

‘Precious minerals’, locally sourced coffee cups and ethically produced French wool clothing are just some of the new products available at the New Store! At this product drop, for the first time, you can buy items at the Nieuwe Instituut’s regenerative museum shop and take them home. Take a look behind the scenes, meet the designers and view beautiful and exciting examples of accessible design that contribute to a regenerative production chain.

For this product drop, the New Store is offering the following items: sand jewellery by Studio IF; UnderGarden cotton underwear designed by Iris Veentjer; the Oyster Mushroom Growkit by Rotterzwam; Coffee-to-Throw recyclable coffee cups by Fabrikaat, in collaboration with Jatiwangi Art Factory and the ROEM Institute; and, last but not least, regenerative clothing designed by Ása Bríet Brattaberg, in collaboration with LOADS Collection and Collectif Tricolor.

About the products

Designer Irma Földényi ‘borrows’ from nature with her sand jewellery. She creates her designs by mixing sand with a natural binding agent. As soon as the jewellery comes into contact with water, it dissolves, allowing the sand to return to its natural cycle.

UnderGarden is a regenerative underwear line that is free from chemicals and synthetic materials. Once your UnderGarden item has reached the end of its life cycle, you can bury it with the included seeds, after which it will become a source of new life.

With the Oyster Mushroom Grow Kit, you can grow your own mushrooms in the comfort of your own kitchen. Your used coffee grounds are given a second life as a nutrient-rich medium in which the mushrooms can flourish.

Coffee-to-Throw cups are an eco-friendly alternative to traditional ceramic production and disposable plastic cups. Made from unfired clay and water-resistant beeswax, the cups can be reused a few times for hot drinks and will dissolve in cold water when they are ready to be discarded.

The selection of wool garments designed by Ása Bríet Brattaberg was handcrafted within a regenerative wool production cycle. It was also on display at New Store pop-up 4.0 during Paris Design Week.

New Store

With the New Store project, the Nieuwe Instituut reconsiders traditional relationships between raw materials, labour and exchange by exploring the possibilities of regenerative shopping. Designers exploring alternative ways to create and sell their products are invited to join the testing ground of the New Store.
