Introduction
I won’t say this easily, but we ‘need’ more people who constellate societal issues in an effective, meaningful and ethical way. In social issues the forces are far bigger then we are, the hopes for change often larger then we can realistically offer, and we all are part of the issue, and even take part in causing the issue.
Facilitating constellations on societal issues requires not only techniques, it also requires ways of holding space and a mindset where you both can be in a position of leading and in complete service at the same time. I invite you to explore the inner place from where you are facilitating, the way how your culture and your patterns are influencing you.
Way of working
This training requires commitment. You are on your own, learning ánd we are a learning group as a whole. You need to practice, so we require you form practice groups with some of the other participants. I expect you being present on all training days.
Every module we will do at least one constellation on a societal issue. We will use this constellation to learn, to present theory. Every module we will present some processes and exercises in order to explore questions like:
‘Who am I as a facilitator of societal issues?’
‘Who do I consider to be the assignment giver for such an issue.’
‘How far do I consider to be my responsibility as facilitator?’
‘How may my own patterns be interfering with the topic and the way how I facilitate?’
‘What are interventions and what is the source of my interventions .’
‘How do I look at social systems and what are my (unconscious) relationships with them and prejudices about them?’
Before every next module you can send an email with your questions.
Practice groups
When we are with a group of participants, it doesn’t make much sense to have each of you facilitate during this training program. I strongly invite you to make smaller practice groups and facilitate there. Even if your aim is not to facilitate constellations on societal issues, facilitating is a very meaningful way to explore you attitude, excitements and fears.
We will also make a WhatsApp group in order to be able to be in contact, reach each other, announce practice groups and learn, laugh, cry and celebrate together.
Prerequisites
Well, I suppose you are facilitating constellations or learning to do so. I suppose you have your own good reasons why you want to join and what you want to get out of it, ánd I’m curious what these good reasons are.
Tools
We will work with the constellation tool Live (a tool Dees van de Hoef and I developed already before Corona). All participants, during the period of the training, will get this tool in order to be able to practice. And of course you are free to choose your own tools afterwards. Before the training starts you will receive login details and instructions how both to work in Zoom and Live at the same time.
By whom?
I, Jan Jacob Stam will be the trainer. I never was or am interested in societal issues. But, and now I shift to ‘I’, I feel we have to....... Beyond the question we like it or not. Well, I don’t like it. I always try to prevent to do constellations on societal issues. Too big, too scary, too many changes that patterns are confirmed instead of loosened up.
Nevertheless I facilitated over a hundred constellations on societal issues over the past decade. And I think it’s worthwhile to explore the potential of the systemic phenomenological approach in this area.
We simply have to.....
