We nodigen je uit voor een avond vol hedendaagse kunst, muziek, performance en film. In de voormalige Amerikaanse ambassade ervaar je een doorlopend programma met tentoonstellingen, optredens en films. Kunstenaars en denkers van over de hele wereld onderzoeken hoe herinnering, dromen en identiteit onze blik op de wereld vormen en hoe die blik kan veranderen.

We invite you to an evening of contemporary art, music, performance, and film. In the former American embassy, you’ll experience a continuous program of exhibitions, live acts, and screenings. Artists and thinkers from around the world explore how memory, dreams, and identity shape our view of the world, and how that view can be questioned and transformed.

Dit jaar vindt alweer de zevende editie van het Onze Ambassade Festival plaats. De opening van het culturele seizoen vieren we opnieuw met een veelzijdig festival. Het programma brengt verschillende kunstvormen samen en geeft een goede indruk van het aankomende programma van West. In het door Marcel Breuer ontworpen gebouw, oorspronkelijk gebruikt als Amerikaanse ambassade, kun je een avond lang luisteren naar toonaangevende experimentele muziek, kijken naar exposities van hedendaagse kunstenaars en een van de splinternieuwe performances bijwonen.

Het Onze Ambassade Festival brengt kunstenaars en muzikanten uit binnen- en buitenland samen. In de tentoonstellingsruimtes presenteert West nieuw werk van onder anderen de Surinaams-Nederlandse kunstenaars Razia Barsatie en Sarojini Lewis, waarin thema’s als spiritualiteit, familiegeschiedenis en identiteit een intieme en persoonlijke vorm krijgen.

De recent aan de KABK afgestudeerde Shivani Gowda, afkomstig uit de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten, presenteert een site-specifieke performance over de rol van een hedendaagse kunstinstelling in deze tijd. In het Alphabetum is een nieuwe tentoonstelling te zien met schriften die in dromen zijn ontstaan. In de context van het denken van Eduard Glissant ontstaat een gelaagd landschap van meervoudige perspectieven en verbondenheid.

Het muzikale programma, samengesteld door Alex Andropoulos, brengt een unieke, internationale selectie van grensverleggende artiesten naar Den Haag. Je hoort liveoptredens van onder anderen Rezzett, Elastic Systems, Clément Vercelletto, Passepartout Duo en XX (TBC). Van dansbare, experimentele composities tot opzwepende percussie en gelaagde elektro muziek: in het auditorium, de garage en het Alphabetum van de ambassade hoor je geluiden die je nergens anders in de stad zult tegenkomen.

Dit festival markeert niet alleen het begin van een nieuw cultureel seizoen, maar onderstreept de functie van interdisciplinaire kunst als ruimte voor ontmoeting, reflectie en verbeelding.

This year marks the seventh edition of the Onze Ambassade Festival. Once again, we celebrate the start of the cultural season with a vibrant and multidisciplinary evening. The program brings together a range of artistic forms and offers a compelling glimpse of what West has in store for the year ahead. In the building designed by Marcel Breuer, originally used as the American Embassy, you are invited to spend the evening listening to leading voices in experimental music, exploring exhibitions by contemporary artists, and experiencing one of several brand-new performances.

The Onze Ambassade Festival brings together artists and musicians from across the globe. In the exhibition spaces, West presents new work by, among others, the Surinamese-Dutch artists Razia Barsatie and Sarojini Lewis, whose works explore themes such as spirituality, family history, and identity in intimate and personal ways.

Shivani Gowda, a recent graduate of the Royal Academy of Art The Hague (KABK) and originally from the United Arab Emirates, presents a site-specific performance exploring the role of the contemporary art institution today. Meanwhile, the Alphabetum hosts a new exhibition featuring writing systems that emerged from dreams. Framed by the thinking of Eduard Glissant, a layered space unfolds, one shaped by multiplicity, relation, and connection.

The music program, curated by Alex Andropoulos, brings a bold and international lineup of boundary-pushing artists to The Hague. Live performances by Rezzett, Elastic Systems, Clément Vercelletto, Passepartout Duo, and XX (TBC) span danceable experimental compositions, driving percussion, layered electro music. Across the auditorium, the garage, and the Alphabetum, you’ll hear sounds you won’t encounter anywhere else in the city.

This festival not only marks the beginning of a new cultural season, but also emphasizes the role of interdisciplinary art as a space for encounter, reflection, and imagination.
