Open Paviljoen: HBX Open Kite of Transformation I

Vliegers zijn het ultieme symbool van vrijheid. 25 jaar geleden begon Rienke Enghardt vliegers te gebruiken in haar wereldwijde Hope Box (HBX) kunstacties. Ze ontwikkelde de unieke, langwerpige vorm van de HBX-vlieger uit de klassieke Rokkaku. HBX-vliegers zijn over de hele wereld actief geweest, van Gaza-Stad tot Havana en van Hanoi tot Johannesburg, om de boodschap van vrijheid en solidariteit kracht bij te zetten. Dit jaar is de NAVO-top in Den Haag: de HBX Kite of Transformation betuigt solidariteit met de landen die in (gevaar voor) conflict verkeren. Tegelijkertijd bemoedigt deze kite dialoog en collectief tekenen in de thema’s als vrede en rechtvaardigheid. Voor het Road to Summit festival is deze vlieger twee middagen bij het Open Paviljoen van West te zien, op 14 en 21 juli. Het publiek kan met Hope Box en met elkaar in gesprek gaan over deze vlieger en het verhaal erachter. Daarnaast is er in West een samenkomst omtrent de HBX Kite of Transformation met de Oekraïense en Georgische gemeenschappen.

Kites are the ultimate symbol of freedom. 25 years ago, Rienke Enghardt started using kites in her worldwide Hope Box (HBX) art actions. She developed the unique, elongated shape of the HBX kite from the classic Rokkaku. HBX kites have been active all over the world, from Gaza City to Havana and from Hanoi to Johannesburg, to reinforce the message of freedom and solidarity. This year, the NATO Summit is in The Hague: the HBX Kite of Transformation shows solidarity with countries in (risk of) conflict. It also encourages dialogue and collective drawing in the themes of peace and justice. For the Road to Summit festival, this kite will be on display for two afternoons at the Open Pavilion, on July 14 and 21. The public can engage in conversation with Hope Box and with each other about the kite and the story behind it. In addition, there will be a gathering at West concerning the HBX Kite of Transformation with the Ukrainian and Georgian communities.
