Opening night Explorations of Uncertainty - MU Hybrid Art House
Overview
Reality, once regarded as stable and predictable, is increasingly understood through quantum physics as a space shaped by ambiguity, probability, and chance. A space in which everything can be connected to everything else, even across great distances in time and place.
Explorations of Uncertainty, artists’ visions on quantum explores this space of possibilities. The exhibition takes fundamental concepts and discoveries from quantum physics and translates them into visual, acoustic, and interactive artworks.
While the theory of relativity revealed that space and time are relative, quantum physics showed that our world is shaped by uncertainties, probabilities, and complex entanglements. These scientific breakthroughs not only transformed physics but also left a lasting impact on art, philosophy, and many other fields.
The United Nations has declared 2025 the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. Throughout the year, researchers around the world are highlighting the potential of this field to drive breakthroughs in computing, communication, and our understanding of reality. Unlike classical computers, which process information in binary form using zeros and ones, quantum computers use qubits that can exist and be processed in multiple states simultaneously. This principle resonates with the open, non-binary forms explored in many of the works on display.
The exhibition brings together international artists who transform scientific concepts such as superposition, entanglement, and probability into sensory experiences that also invite critical reflection. Some works have emerged from direct collaboration with quantum scientists or even quantum computers, while others draw inspiration from quantum theory to imagine new ways of perceiving the world. Through the lens of quantum theory, the world appears fluid, non-binary, and open to many interpretations.
