OSCAM Speak Session Reimagining the Past of Zuidoost

For our first Speak Session, OSCAM invites guests to pause and reflect on the history of Zuidoost. The idea is that through engaging conversations with participants of the exhibitions, experts, and creatives, we’ll explore how this dynamic district has evolved into a thriving creative hub on the fringes of Amsterdam’s center.

7.30 PM - Start of panel talk with Kimberly Willems as moderator and Ernestine Comvalius, MC Lost/ Roger Buyne, and Roy Wijks as speakers

9 PM - Second part of DJ Ann1cee’s set and putting out snacks

About the speakers

MC Lost/ Roger Buyne:
MC Lost, aka Roger Buyne, is a rapper, writer, and performer from the Bijlmer whose work blends urban life with themes of self-reflection and identity. His love for writing and freestyle began at a young age. His style is raw, shifting from vulnerable to bold.

Ernestine Comvalius:
Ernestine Comvalius, former director and co-founder of the Bijlmer Parktheater,
is a writer, speaker and consultant. She has lived in Southeast for 35 years and was involved in supporting the Surinamese families who squatted the flats in the Bijlmer in the 1970s.

Roy Wijks:Roy Wijks is a longtime Bijlmer resident and activist committed to social justice in the Netherlands and Suriname. He has supported community initiatives, fought discrimination, and co-authored Looking for Papa Koenders.

OSCAM Speak Session Reimagining the Past of Zuidoost

Voor onze eerste Speak Session nodigt OSCAM gasten uit om stil te staan bij de geschiedenis van Zuidoost.
Door middel van verdiepende gesprekken met deelnemers aan de tentoonstelling, experts en creatieven verkennen we hoe dit dynamische stadsdeel is uitgegroeid tot een bloeiend creatief centrum aan de rand van Amsterdam.

Programma

19.00 uur – DJ Ann1cee start haar set en gasten komen binnen
19.30 uur – Start van het panelgesprek onder leiding van moderator Kimberly Willems, met sprekers Ernestine Comvalius, MC Lost / Roger Buyne en Roy Wijks
21.00 uur – Tweede deel van DJ Ann1cee’s set + snacks worden geserveerd
21.30 uur – Einde van de avond

Over de sprekers

MC Lost / Roger Buyne
MC Lost, ook bekend als Roger Buyne, is een rapper, schrijver en performer uit de Bijlmer. Zijn werk verbindt het stedelijke leven met thema’s als zelfreflectie en identiteit. Zijn liefde voor schrijven en freestylen begon al op jonge leeftijd. Zijn stijl is rauw en beweegt zich tussen kwetsbaarheid en kracht.

Ernestine Comvalius
Ernestine Comvalius is voormalig directeur en medeoprichter van het Bijlmer Parktheater. Ze is schrijver, spreker en adviseur. Ze woont al 35 jaar in Amsterdam Zuidoost en was in de jaren ‘70 betrokken bij het ondersteunen van Surinaamse gezinnen die flats kraakten in de Bijlmer.

Roy Wijks
Roy Wijks is een betrokken bewoner van de Bijlmer en activist, met een grote inzet voor sociale rechtvaardigheid in zowel Nederland als Suriname. Hij ondersteunt verschillende gemeenschapsinitiatieven, strijdt tegen discriminatie en is coauteur van Op zoek naar Papa Koenders.
