Are you new to drawing or painting and ready to begin your creative journey?
Then this is the course for you.
In this ongoing painting course you will discover the basics of drawing and painting with acrylic paints. You will learn about light and dark, composition, form, color, and the use of different materials. Through a variety of exercises, you’ll step out of your comfort zone, experiment with shapes and color combinations, and learn to paint and draw more freely.
The focus of the course is not only on technical skills, but also on developing your personal style. Together, we will explore themes, techniques, and art history references, while leaving plenty of room for your own creativity and expression. Every class ends with a short group round, where we look at each other’s work and share progress.
About your teacherThe course is taught by Selanna Holleman, graduate of the Breitner Academie (2024). Selanna is an experienced instructor in drawing and painting, with a passion for helping students grow in both technical skills and personal expression.
Practical information
- Day & Time: Every Tuesday evening, 19:00 – 22:00
- Location: Amsterdam House of Arts & Crafts, Oudeschans 21, Amsterdam
- Materials: Paper, paint, brushes, mediums and all basic materials are included
- Continuous schedule: You don’t have to start at a fixed date – simply join on a Tuesday when there’s space available. This flexible system allows you to follow the classes at your own pace.
