Overview:

Turn your old clothes into handmade paper in this special workshop exploring the ancient craft of papermaking. Using traditional techniques—cutting, shredding, heating, blending, scooping, pressing, and drying—we'll transform textile waste into an A4.

Together we'll dive into the material properties of fiber and fabric, and experiment with slow-making as a response to the speed of fashion. Most importantly we'll have fun soaking our hands in water and textile pulp and observing the satisfying action of pressing water out of your freshly made wet sheet of paper. Including: Experimentation!

This session is part of Worn Words: slow paper against fast fashion, currently on view at the Fresh Grounds exhibition at Foundation we are (Torenallee 22-04,5617BD Eindhoven).

The Community Square bar will be open for coffee and more.

Lara van der Poel (Initiator / Host)

Foundation we are (Hosting venue)

Foundation We Are was established in 2018 to enable, facilitate, and explore collaborations between the creative sector and experts working on societal transitions. By bringing designers and experts together, we create space for shared research, experimentation, and the development of creative responses to today’s most pressing challenges.

Currently on display, the Fresh Grounds exhibition features the Worn Words project alongside works by four other Eindhoven-based designers. Each explores pressing social challenges shaping our city. The exhibition runs through September 14th, 2025.
