The purpose of this 90-minute class is to provide a space for poets of all levels to create a writing ritual in an online community.

About this event

The class is held live (almost) every Wednesday from 14:00-15:30 (that’s 2:00 pm-3:30 pm) Central European Time. The classes will be recorded and available to registered participants only for viewing for up to one week after the class.

Think of it as a drawing session for your poetry practice.

Each class will start with a short introduction, including the reading of a poem, based on the theme of the week and a short 2-minute centering exercise (usually breathing or visualization) to prepare for writing.

After the intro, we will go into an uninterrupted free writing session for 30 minutes. Participants may follow the prompt provided by the facilitator but are highly encouraged to use this time to write whatever is coming to mind. The main rule of this free writing is to simply keep writing during the whole exercise.

At the end of the free writing session, we will take a stretch break followed by an optional time to share work. Each participant will have the opportunity to read a short excerpt of their writing or give a kind and supportive reflection to their fellow poets.

The session will end with some words of encouragement and a brief closing.

Participants are also welcome to join our closed Facebook group if anyone wishes to share further work, poems, or discussions related to the class.
