Event description
Coffee producers from 15 countries team up with roasters and experts to make concrete steps to adopt regenerative agricultural practices.

About this event

Our twentieth century agricultural solutions based on monoculture and chemical inputs have failed. And the only proven way to restore balance in the natural world while feeding a growing population lies in rediscovering and upgrading agricultural practices that work in sync with, not against nature.

In this context, we are dedicating the Third Producer Crossover entirely to regenerative agriculture. With a tightly knit network of growers, roasters and experts present, we have a unique opportunity to find ways to make this future real and workable for everyone attending and provide a precedent for the entire coffee industry.

To arrive at concrete actions we will maximise the time spent sparring, finding solutions and having discussions over good coffee and food. This means introducing the concept itself two weeks before the actual event in an interactive Zoom session so we can dive straight into round two when we meet in person.

Tickets are €111 for everyone attending except the producers. There will be 111 tickets available. All the money raised will be spent on flight tickets for all the producers who are attending.

9-6-22 - Virtual: An Introduction to Regenerative Agriculture.

Twe weeks before the actual event, syntropic agriculture legend Afredo Sendim, regenerative agriculture designer Tirion Keatinge and This Side Up founder Lennart Clerkx will introduce the concept of regenerative agriculture and work through some common misperceptions in an interactive Zoom session.

22-6-22 - The Producer Crossover in Milan - Regenerative Edition.

A day of workshops on topics ranging from microbes and biodiversity to storytelling and rewarding experimentation, hosted by the TSU team and our partner farmers, we will work interactively all day towards actionable plans to support, defend and promote regenerative agriculture when we go back home.

23-6-22 to 25-6-22 - The World of Coffee in Milan.

The reason this event is in Milan is because Europe's largest specialty coffee expo will take place the next days. A must for coffee professionals from all sides of the value chain: connections made here often resonate and evolve for years to come.

Some more context.

For the first time in history, we have the powerful combination of two phenomena: advanced human technology and a deep respect and interest for “natural technology”.

On the one hand, science is revealing to us the unseen miracles of the natural world, zooming in through microbiology, biochemistry, and quantum physics, and zooming out through satellite imaging, meteorology and climate science. On the other hand, a conscious and humble generation of these same scientists is starting to listen to visionary farmers who not so long ago were viewed as crazy. They are realising what those who live close to nature have always known: that it is nature, not humans, that has the superior technological solution to supporting life. “All” we have to do is create the circumstances for nature to provide those solutions.

This is the essence of the regenerative agriculture movement and of course, this concept reached the shores of the coffee world too. All around us, we see people promoting “agroforestry” and regenerative practices. Yet when delving deeper, we see a huge lack of understanding of agronomy in general and therefore about what regenerative agriculture actually means. This in turn, leaves the door wide open for greenwashing by the big guys - which is, of course, happening in full swing.

Therefore, the time is ripe for us to take charge of the dialogue and show that everywhere in the value chain, coffee professionals have the willingness and knowledge to make regenerative agriculture the standard for all our coffee.

We can’t wait to see all of you, new and old faces, connect to each other in person. The memories of Amsterdam and Berlin are still so vibrant: nothing beats looking into the eyes of years of ever deepening relationships in the span of just one day!
