Queer Art & the Legacy of Erwin Olaf: In Conversation at Soho House

By Galerie Ron Mandos

Overview

Galerie Ron Mandos, in partnership with Soho House, presents a special talk with Gemma Rolls-Bentley and Shirley den Hartog.

Galerie Ron Mandos, in partnership with Soho House, presents a special talk with Gemma Rolls-Bentley, curator of ‘Nowhere but the Night’ and author of ‘Queer Art: From Canvas to Club and the Spaces Between’, and Shirley den Hartog, Director of the Estate Erwin Olaf and former head of Studio Erwin Olaf. Together, they will explore Erwin Olaf’s legacy as one of the most influential photographers of the late twentieth century, his impact on queer art and community, and how his work resonates alongside the thirteen queer artists featured in the new exhibition.

Set against the backdrop of ‘Nowhere but the Night’ at Galerie Ron Mandos (featuring James Bartolacci, J. Carino, Amina Cruz, Rainer Fetting, Miles Greenberg, Erin Holly, Leasho Johnson, Isaac Julien, Vidar Logi, Zanele Muholi, Erwin Olaf, Elsa Rouy, Devan Shimoyama, and Zoe Walsh) the conversation offers insight into how Olaf’s vision continues to shape contemporary queer expression. The talk also connects to the major retrospective ‘Erwin Olaf – Freedom’, currently on view at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.

Join us at Soho House for an intimate discussion on queer art, creative legacy, and the stories behind the exhibition! Free event. No membership required.
