We Love Public Space Walkshops

During the Rotterdam Architecture Month We Love Public Space organises a series of Walkshops. Professionals from various disciplines share their fascination for public space and invite the participants to engage with, and reflect on the contemporary city.

<p>We often contra-pose man and nature, artificial and natural. This dichotomy is way more blurry than we think and, as part of the same planet, humans are constantly influencing and being influenced by the environment that surrounds them. Walking in the city, there are plenty of signs that remind us about this interconnection, you just have to be curious and read them. The spontaneous plants that grow between the tiles, the slightly crooked klinkers that adjust to the soft soils of the Delta, or lichens growing on a wall can all be clues to understand the urban Landscape. </p><p>Lorenzo Bertolotto will take you on a walk along the streets of Rotterdam to explore the often overlooked natural details that dot our city. Lorenzo is a landscape designer at the Urbanisten. He is involved in innovative projects that deal with urban resilience by enforcing city nature, like the Sponge Garden in M4H. He is also the roof herder of the urban flock of five dutch Merino sheep that graze at the Dakpark.  </p>
