On Friday, October 31, we’re turning our Friday afternoon drinks into something a little more… Rebel. Join us at WORM in Rotterdam for a special showcase edition of Rebel Café – where we mix ideas, inspiration, and creativity in true Rebel style.
With support from Rebel Flora & Fauna, the afternoon kicks off with the insightful talk “Samenwerken Natuurlijk!” (“Working Together, Naturally!”) by Koos Biesmeijer (Naturalis). At first glance, nature might appear to be all about harmony and cooperation – but nothing could be further from the truth. Species often act for their own gain, and individuals even more so. Yet because species have coexisted for millions of years – continually adapting to changing circumstances – the complex puzzle of life fits together into remarkably well-functioning ecosystems. From this, we can learn how to “collaborate” even when our goals don’t align. And when it comes to building robust societies, no one does it better than ants – what can we learn from them?
Then comes Nocturnal Garden — a unique electronic music concert with live VJ visuals by Well, oh boy and Elsbeth van Noppen, revealing the hidden nightlife of plants and flowers. An experimental and immersive performance that shows how nature and technology can beautifully merge. Expect an uplifting concert – and yes, there will even be room to dance.
