After the great success of our first AI Ethics Event, which saw over 100 enthusiastic participants, we are thrilled to announce the second edition—now even better, thanks to your feedback! Organized by the Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence (ICAI), Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), and the Erasmus Centre for Data Analytics (ECDA), this event will provide substantial insights and meaningful interactions.

Join us for something new - a plenary debate featuring Virginia Dignum, Cristina Zaga, Matthew Dennis, and Vincent Blok. They will engage in an intellectual challenge, presenting convincing arguments for or against various statements—regardless of their personal views. Examples of fundamental tensions in AI that may be explored include the balance between private interests and the public good, the ethics of military applications, job displacement vs economic growth, regulation vs innovation.

Following the debate, attendees will break into smaller roundtable discussions. These groups will delve into topics as the Netherlands' role in global AI collaboration, the impact of AI on democracy, and the consequences of using AI for human behaviour change, and many others.

In the deep-dive sessions, our esteemed hosts will present case studies covering a range of issues—from research on gender roles in AI to ethical dilemmas in healthcare applications. There will be something of interest for everyone!

Navigating recovery: deploying a validated model for discharge decisions after major surgery
Deepcell: exploring AI in tissue analysis and its ethical challenges
