RISO Crashcourse: Code, Click, Print!
Creative Coding & RISO Animation Workshop
Onomatopee, Lucas Gasselstraat 2a, Eindhoven
Friday, October 24 | 10:00 – 18:00
Join 11.11 Collective for a one-day crash course during Dutch Design Week 2025, where creative coding meets RISO! Throughout the day, we will experiment with generative coding to create unique digital sketches, bring them to life in After Effects, and eventually translate them into risograph animations. In this experimental workshop, Marvin Sipma, Seven Shepherd, and Sebastiaan Paap will each share their expertise, guiding participants step by step through the entire process on how to make this one-of-a-kind animation.
In this hands-on workshop, you will:
- Learn the basics of generative coding to create playful digital sketches
- Transform your creations into short animations with After Effects
- Explore the principles of risograph printing, including color separation and layering
- Prepare your files and print your own vibrant risograph animation
No prior coding experience is required, just curiosity and a laptop. We will provide templates, tools and step-by-step guidance to help you experiment, play and leave with your own risograph animation. Some basic knowledge of Adobe is helpful.
What to bring:
- Laptop with Processing 5, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and InDesign installed
- A complete list of (free) required programs and installation instructions will be sent to participants once they have registered for the workshop.
We provide:
- Coding template and cheat sheets
- Risograph animation examples
- InDesign layout template
- Paper and risograph printing at Onomatopee
Places are limited. Secure your spot via Eventbrite and join us for a day of code, color and print during Dutch Design Week 2025!
About 11.11 collective
Based between Rotterdam and Barcelona, 11.11 Collective consists of three former classmates who collaborate to explore the intersection between analog and digital methods. Founded in 2022 by Marvin Sipma and Seven Shepherd who began experimenting with RISO animations, the collective expanded in 2024 with Sebastiaan Paap, bringing creative coding into the mix. By translating coded visuals into risograph, 11.11 embraces the unpredictable nature of both ink and code in their practice. Their work has been shown across Europe, including exhibitions in Amsterdam, The Hague, Barcelona, and on the big screen at Sala Equis in Madrid. Whether through projection mapping or retro TV setups at various types of events, 11.11 Collective loves to create immersive environments, where print meets pixels and code becomes tangible.
