The Ocean Cleanup is well known as the 'Largest Cleanup in History'. For over ten years, The Ocean Cleanup has been researching, extracting, and monitoring plastic pollution in oceans and rivers globally – with millions of kilograms removed to date. However, new projects and challenges are on the rise. Join Mathijs on the 12th of September to learn more! The Great Bubble Barrier - Francis Zoet, co-founder. Capturing plastic in waterways with bubbles! By creating a bubble curtain by pumping air through a perforated tube on the bottom of the waterway, an upward current directs the plastics to the surface. By placing the Bubble Barrier diagonally in the river, the natural flow will push the plastic waste to the side and into the catchment system. Eager to meet co-founder Francis Zoet? AllSeas - Laura Klinkenberg, Plastic removal coordinator &amp; Ruben van Driel, Continuous Improvement EngineerAllseas has developed several plastic waste collection systems, capable of capturing micro- and macro plastics in the upper part of the water column. These systems are installed at so-called “hotspots” and use wind and currents to collect plastic. The ‘Catchy’ systems have already been installed in Schiedam, and beneath the Erasmusbrug in Rotterdam.
