A blended tomorrow - expanding design horizons with technology


From government to banking, from healthcare to leisure, from retail to communications, servitization and tech have become inextricably linked. Enabling services possible that were unthinkable before. Technology provides a myriad of opportunities to design new services, and improve existing ones.

Our joint challenge is to redevelop and join existing services into holistic, blended and responsible offerings by co-designing with our clients (service users) and our staff (service providers). Looking at challenges in a systemic way, and using technology wisely.

Do you consider designers will have a key role in humanising upcoming emerging technologies? Are you already designing services with an eye on the arrival of new tech or not yet? Are you interested in learning how groundbreaking companies are bridging the use of tech with great service delivery? And do you want to be prepared for service-changing innovations that have an impact? Then you must participate in this annual conference where we will take a deeper look at how humans are going to interact with each other.





Exciting 4-day program

The Service Design Days offer cross-disciplinary events for change-makers, influencers, and decision-makers of small and large organisations, involved in product and service innovation, organisation transformation, and value creation through design. The event focuses on service design for decision-makers and connects strategic designers with business and vice versa.

This 5th anniversary conference edition offers two conference days (Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4) with insightful masterclasses, lectures and case studies, and new views from experienced keynote speakers. Listen and learn, and share your own experiences with researchers, innovators, professors, service design experts, user experience strategists, and strategic design thinkers.

On Thursday, April 2 we will organise a Service Design Tour. You will hear real service design stories while getting to know the city of Barcelona. Hop on and visit organisations that open their doors for you to show and share some of their work, and take back a suitcase filled with inspiration. Thursday, April 2 will end with the official conference kick-off party at a very special location.

After three days of talking, practicing and co-creating, you might want to relax a bit, go to the beach or visit one of Barcelona’s inspiring design museums. For those who like to participate in a final, rounding-up activity where all insights will come together, we will have a special session on Sunday morning April 5.

With a full pass, you can attend both conference days, the Service Design Tour, the kick-off party and the Sunday morning session. A one-day conference ticket for Friday, April 3 will also give access to the Service Design Tour on Thursday, April 2 and a one-day conference ticket for Saturday, April 4 will also give access to the Sunday morning session on April 5. All ticket types will give access to the kick-off party. To get the most out of the event we advise you to join us on all days because the visits, talks, and masterclasses are strongly related to each other.
