🌎 How can we navigate our relationship with a rapidly changing world shaped by climate change?


According to the numerous news and research reports from climate scientists, our future looks bleak unless we act quickly. These messages can lead to fear, feelings of despair, and great uncertainty.


Simon van der Els, a microbiologist trained at the WUR, lost his focus on his research project while writing his doctoral thesis in 2018. Instead of being immersed in microbiology, his attention turned to macro subjects. The information he encountered on climate change and the biodiversity crisis quickly accumulated, creating a personal crisis and eventually leading to burnout. To overcome this and develop a different approach to the news and the somber feelings surrounding the climate crisis, Simon employed various methods and techniques, including research, meditation, forest therapy, and microdosing.


During this inspiration session, he will share his personal journey and transformation, aiming to inspire you and provide tools to navigate this rapidly changing world.

Simon van der Els is a microbiologist trained at the WUR and currently works as a transition guide in nature reconnection in various capacities: nature coaching and guidance, group work in nature education. Furthermore, he integrates various domains including philosophy, science, and spirituality to make sense of the world around us.
