HAPPY CITIZEN DESIGNHappy Citizen Design was founded in 2017 by Boyd Cohen and Rob Adams.Boyd Cohen is a professor at EADA Business School Barcelona and Dean of Research where he teaches design thinking, entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability. He is well-known in the areas of smart cities, sharing cities, urban innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainability. Boyd developed the Smart Cities Wheel. He published The Emergence of the Urban Entrepreneur in 2016.Rob Adams in 2006 founded the design and innovation agency Six Fingers in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. He leads a team of more than a dozen innovation specialists in co-creating renewal projects for clients across different industries.

TIME TO RETHINK SMART CITIES Framing cities as smart narrows the focus to willing to be smart. This results in a tech focus with the citizen as a subject. But cities should evolve around people, not technology. FROM SMART TO HAPPY It is time to rethink what we measure and do to make cities better. We believe that happiness is the ultimate goal for cities, from the citizen up. The research based and human centered Happy Citizens Hexagon is a framework to change the course from city planning to happy citizen design.
