soft scores: a moving archive

Overview

A 3h workshop exploring softness as resistance through somatic movement, text, and collective practice. Led by Marta Wörner

Overview

Suave’ was the word they repeated to themselves just before entering the principal’s office. Chest soft, gut soft; soft, so soft that any sharp word or raised voice would slide down toward the legs, duck-feather soft. And suave suave suave the gaze holds the nook that keeps us human somewhere between the throat and the timetable.

Soft Scores: A Moving Archive is a three-hour workshop led by choreographer Marta Wörner Sarabia, sharing a set of movement scores and practices developed over the past seven years. These scores come from different works and research processes, including Falling In, Notes on Body Space and Matter (2019), and Earthrise (2021), and reflect an ongoing interest in the body as a source of knowledge.

The workshop focuses on simple, guided exercises that explore connection, attention, and physical awareness. Participants will work individually and in groups, moving through practices of falling, arriving, gathering, and rising. There is also space to move between text and movement, allowing different ways of thinking and sensing to interact.

No previous experience is required—just openness to move and engage.

About the facilitator

Marta Wörner Sarabia (b. 1990, Madrid) is a movement artist working primarily through expanded choreography. Drawing on dance-based research, speculative philosophy, film, and sculpture, she develops vocabularies that explore an undisciplinary language. Her practice is guided by principles of collaboration, experimentation, and translation, closely intertwining her artistic research with her pedagogical approach.

Marta trained in dance performance across various European institutions and independent platforms. She holds a Master’s degree in Choreography from Codarts University of the Arts (Rotterdam) and Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts (Tilburg), where she currently works as a mentor and assessor, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Communication from the Complutense University (Madrid).

Her work has been presented at international venues and festivals, including the Fringe Festival of Madrid and Edinburgh, Cinedans Festival (Amsterdam), The Boulevard Theatre Festival (Den Bosch), TENT Rotterdam, The Arsenale of Venice (Italy), The Grey Space In The Middle (The Hague), MOMO Festival (Rotterdam), The ADM Circus Festival (Amsterdam), and WORM (Rotterdam).

Location: Conny Jansen Danst, Studio 2
