The Epilogue: Reflections on Home
a part of Rotterdam Architecture Month
Extending from our recent series, Stories and Galerie de Jaloezie are joining up to invite you to a Sunday matinee screening with a mediation and open discussion to reflect on our childhood homes.
In a guided meditation we prepare your senses and art of noticing with a screenings of Malintzin 17 (64’, 2022), followed by a collective discussion. This film invites us to reflect on how shared notions of intimacy manifested in specific, mundane but fleeting details of childhood, parenthood, the neighborhood, and community.
Malintzin ‘17 - After the passing of her brother, Mexican filmmaker Eugenio Polgovsky, Mara Polgovsky adapted footage he collected of his daughter while watching a pigeon. This film captures the rhythms of Mexico City from a single balcony, observing the multiple stories embedded in seemingly insignificant observations. Featured during the 2022 IFFR Tiger Competition.

About: Stories:
Stories is a discussion-based series that aims to leverage conversations and shared experiences through text. Initiated by a group of friends during the pandemic, sharing excerpts acted as a way to connect with themselves, each other and the city they live in. Stories’ previous series explored the layers of the concept of home in Rotterdam, starting from the body, the things we carry, and the way we construct our environment.
About: Galerie de Jaloezie:
Galerie de Jaloezie is a platform for audio-visual arts in Rotterdam, founded by Gijs van der Meer and Anne Vera Veen. We organise extraordinary film screenings in extraordinary settings, a yearly 48 hour film challenge and a pop-up gallery for video art, where we explore the boundaries between art and film. Due to our background in visual anthropology, we are interested in moving image that is the result of a (field)research or conceptual exploration.
