Tweebosbuurt tour van Mustapha Eaisaouiyen

De Rotterdamse Tweebosbuurt, onderdeel van de Afrikaanderwijk, ligt erbij als een spookstad. Er resten slechts puinhopen en ruïnes, nadat de bewoners gedwongen vertrokken om plaats te maken voor luxe woningen. Ze hebben gestreden als leeuwen en die strijd bleef niet onopgemerkt. Ze kregen niet alleen nationale maar ook internationale bekendheid: zelfs de Verenigde Naties bemoeide zich ermee. De fysieke woningen zijn er niet meer, maar de herinneringen zijn altijd gebleven.

Tweebosbuurt-bewoner Mustapha Eaisaouiyen vertelt graag de verhalen van bijzondere mensen die zich niet uit het veld lieten slaan. Hij neemt jullie mee in het proces en het woonbeleid dat enorm veel impact op heel veel Rotterdammers gehad heeft.

Mustapha Eaisaouiyen zet zich in voor de wooncrisis in zijn stad Rotterdam en de rest van Nederland. Hij is voormalig bewoner van de inmiddels gesloopte Rotterdamse Tweebosbuurt. Hij is daarnaast een van de oprichters van ‘Recht op de Stad’, een bundeling van bewonersgroepen uit verschillende buurten, en Woonopstand. Ook is hij lid van de ‘Bond Precaire Woonvormen’, de ‘Bewonersgroep Tweebos’, en lid van de Afrikaanderwijk Coöperatie.

Een van de drie programmalijnen van het Studio Programma is (Building) an Urban Union: een reeks activiteiten rond maatschappelijke vraagstukken die spelen in de wijk. Onderwerpen zijn onder andere gezondheid en welzijn, gentrificatie, inclusie en participatie, vertrouwen en gemeenschapsgevoel, klimaatbestendigheid en ecologische duurzaamheid. Ontmoeting, collectief leren, kennis delen, produceren en presenteren staan centraal: de activiteiten ontstaan direct vanuit ervaringen en vragen uit de wijken. Het programma wordt gevoed door urgente thema’s zoals onderwijs, gentrificatie, klimaat onzekerheid, niet-institutionele kennis en ruimtelijke ongelijkheid – net zo relevant in Rotterdam-Zuid als elders in de wereld.

The Tweebosbuurt in Rotterdam looks like a ghost town. All that remains are rubble and ruins, after residents were forced to leave to make way for luxury housing. They fought like lions, and their struggle did not go unnoticed. They gained not only national but also international attention: even the United Nations got involved. The physical homes are gone, but the memories remain.

Tweebosbuurt resident Mustapha Eaisaouiyen is eager to share the stories of remarkable people who refused to be defeated. He will guide you through the process and housing policies that have had a profound impact on many people in Rotterdam.

Mustapha Eaisaouiyen is committed to the housing crisis in his city Rotterdam and the rest of the Netherlands. He is a former resident of the now demolished Tweebosbuurt in Rotterdam. He is also one of the founders of ‘Right to the city’, a group of residents' groups from various neighbourhoods, and ‘Woonopstand’. ‘Woonopstand’ is a coalition of housing demonstrations and housing action groups in the Netherlands. He is also a member of the ‘Bond Precaire Woonvormen’ (a union for people who live in precarious situations), the ‘Bewonersgroep Tweebos’, and a member of the Afrikaanderwijk Cooperative.

One of the Studio Programme’s three thematic lines is (Building) an Urban Union: is a series of activities focussing on societal questions arising in the neighbourhood. Topics relate to health and wellbeing, gentrification, inclusion and participation, trust and community belonging, climate resilience, and environmental sustainability. Meeting, collective learning, sharing knowledge, production and presentation are central: activities arise directly from experiences and questions from the neighbourhoods. The program is fueled by themes such as education, gentrification, climate uncertainty, non- institutional knowledge and spatial inequality, which are as urgent in Rotterdam (South) as elsewhere in the world.
