Tea & Shibari 'A Journey to Return Within', Amsterdam

You are invited to experience the art of two healing practices/rituals: Tea Ceremony and Shibari on Friday night, October 17th,with Kozy and Leila at Salon Expose in Amsterdam. A Grounding process in which we begin with reflection and meditation within ourselves while sipping tea mindfully and consciously, deepened by the connection within ourselves and others.

The theme of this Autumn edition is ‘A Journey to return within.’ As Autumn arrives, we are invited to slow down, to soften, to shed what no longer serves—like leaves returning to the earth. This gathering is a return: a return home to the body, to our true being, to the essence that rests beneath all doing. Through the grounding ritual of tea, we arrive in presence. Through the art of shibari, we open to trust, surrender, and deeper connection. Together, in this season of turning inward, we journey back—into ourselves, into each other, into the quiet truth of being.

What to expect:

We begin with the ancient Tea Ceremony (Cha Tao 茶道, “The Way of Nature through Tea”), a devotional art practiced for thousands of years rooted from China, in harmony with Nature. Leila, will serve each of you seasonal premium teas and guide you through a tea meditation that cultivates presence, fluidity, and harmony. Each sip becomes a prayer — that awakens our senses, opens our hearts, and connects us deeper to one another.

The evening then flows into the Art of Shibari — a Japanese rope practice that explores both physical form and emotional depth. Shibari invites us into the dance of desire and surrender, the balance of power and release, the tension between intensity and stillness. It is a living art form—sensual, creative, and profoundly connective—mirroring the cycles of life itself.

To honor our theme and the current, “A Journey to Return,” we will share 3 Shibari performances with 6 live artists in total, each telling its own story and art of return. Every performance will be paired with a carefully chosen tea (with an Autumn twist), deepening the resonance of the moment and weaving the evening into a complete and embodied experience.

Leila (Chinese, American living in Amsterdam) is an Artist of Life who’s passionate about tea, plant medicines and healing arts, in harmony with the ancient wisdom of the Tao/The Way of Nature. She hosts a variety of Medicine/Tea Ceremonies, often combined with embodiment practices to bring us back to what truly matters in our body and soul She is also a facilitator in the field of Sensuality, Tantra and Playfulness, sharing her gifts in creating sacred spaces and working with life force energies through Tantric Bodywork and Tantric Temple Gatherings.
