European Music Collective Debut Release Concert: Sidrabiņi No. 1 (Klankhaven Records) Between Contemporary Music, Avant-Garde, and Free Jazz. With a Young Spirit and a Collective Approach.

“Imagine being lost in the woods. Suddenly there's a house where you meet all of your friends and start to play music together. Timeless, collectivistic, uniquely avant-garde.”

The European Music Collective is celebrating the release of their debut album Sidrabiņi No.1 (Klankhaven Records) with a concert night of improvised music for a 13-piece ensemble.

Initiator Christoph Götzen has invited NYC based musician Selendis Sebastian Alexander Johnson to co-direct and conduct the ensemble. Improvisation, open scores, spontaneous and interactive interplay – freedom and discourse, democracy and boundaries – all of this will be explored artistically beyond the evening concert itself.

The European Music Collective is a group of musicians from around the world who have made Europe the center of their lives and artistic work. Their main goal is to create a platform and a community for improvised music that unites national identities within a collective, cross-border spirit.
