Welcome to The Human Experience: Amsterdam’s newest speaking series at Zoku, featuring local residents who contribute to society in a variety of meaningful ways. This series aims to let us meet, think, and come together to talk about our collective human experience and what brings us together.

Edition #2: The People Who Represent Us

For our second event, we're inviting politician and LGBTQIA+ activist, Jorian van Schagen (he/him). He believes love (and sex) are the most fundamental elements of The Human Experience and that our governments should reflect this better in their policies.

Jorian has been active in politics for over a decade. During the last elections, he was the driving force behind the "Pride Agenda," which contains a variety of much needed LGBTQIA+ proposals to make Amsterdam more queer inclusive. After the elections nearly all proposals made it to the coalition agreement, waiting to be implement and executed by the city government. He just finished his job as chief of staff for the deputy mayor, is now chairperson of PRIDE66 Amsterdam and part of the action group PREPnu as a political advisor.

What's happening?

This session will be hosted by artist and Creative Director at Vayne Entertainment, Kevin de Wit. During this evening, you'll learn about Jorian and his role in politics, have the opportunity to ask him questions, and mingle with a well-rounded group of likeminded people!

Vayne Entertainment is a creative events production company based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Officially launched in 2022, Vayne is established from the desire to connect talented entertainers in the queer, and drag scene, to fun, innovating, unique events.

The founders, Noah Millman and Kevin de Wit (Miss Vanity Love), both have years of experience working in the local scene, creating or producing events at Paradiso, Melkweg, Boom Chicago, CREA, Bar Italia, and more. In 2020, they began collaborating on the creation of several events, bringing together creative planning, direction, logistical expertise and their wider networks.
