About this event

Two aspects highlight the relevance of Franz Kafka in 2024: firstly, what significance does his work hold for the present day? And secondly, what is the current status of the critical edition of his works?
Both topics will be addressed during the Kafka symposium.

Firstly, Dutch Kafka specialist Niels Bokhove will delve into Kafka's virtually unknown text 'Die besitzlose Arbeiterschaft' and its contemporary significance.

Following this, German Kafka expert and publisher Hans-Gerd Koch will present the latest updates on the fifth and final volume of Kafka's letters (1921-1924) and the ongoing search for Kafka documents confiscated by the Gestapo in 1933.

Event language: German and Dutch

Registration: bibliothek-amsterdam@goethe.de
