The Mountain Brook Band Program &amp; Symphonic Winds are delighted to be joined by the Kinder -und Jugendblasorchester Musikum Salzburg (KIJUBO) and the Flötenorchester Musikum Salzburg (FLOR). All 4 excellent ensembles will perform with a special joint performance with the Mountain Brook Band and KIJUBO! The Mountain Brook Band program stands as one of the most prominent and far-reaching ambassadors within the Mountain Brook City School System. Nestled in the picturesque suburb of Birmingham, Alabama, Mountain Brook High Bands comprise the Symphonic Winds, the Mighty Marching Spartans, the Basketball Pep Band, and Round 10’o5 (Jazz Combo). These talented musicians have performed across the United States and internationally, including at the 2023 World Peace Parade in Rome, Italy, and the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion in Normandy, France.Several current musicians received invitations to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City during the New York Elite Invitational Festival. The MBHS band consistently earns superior ratings at music festivals nationwide, with the Symphonic Winds regularly achieving top ratings at the annual State Music Performance Assessment. Its members are recognized among the best in Alabama, frequently selected for All-District, All-State, and collegiate honor bands.The band program takes pride in being the most diverse group on campus, representing every other school organization within its ensemble.James Rogers serves as the Director of Bands for Mountain Brook Schools. A proud graduate of Mountain Brook High School, he earned his undergraduate degree from Auburn University and a Master's in Music Education from Troy University. In 2023, Mr. Rogers achieved National Board Certification in Music Education. He resides in Mountain Brook, AL, with his wife Becca, an elementary music teacher, and their daughters Nora and Mazie.Sarah Niedzwiecki is the Associate Director of Bands for Mountain Brook Schools. A native of Athens, AL, she graduated from Athens High School and earned her Bachelor of Music Education from Auburn University, followed by a Master of Music in Music Education from Ball State University. Ms. Niedzwiecki was honored with the "Bodie Hinton Award," presented to a senior member of the Auburn University Marching Band who exemplifies the "Spirit and Excellence of the AUMB."Dr. Michelle Smith is the Beginning Band Director for Mountain Brook Schools. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Horn Performance from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Music in Horn Performance from the University of New Mexico, and a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Auburn University. Dr. Smith has performed with ensembles across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, New Mexico, and South Carolina.
