The World Around - In Focus: Precarity

Nieuwe Instituut is het nationale museum voor architectuur, design en digitale cultuur. Nieuwe Instituut houdt zich bezig met de grote ontwikkelingen in de maatschappij, zoals de krapte op de woningmarkt, de energietransitie, de opkomst van kunstmatige intelligentie, mobiliteit of het gebruik van de publieke ruimte. Ontwerpers, waaronder architecten en digitale makers, kunnen aan die ontwikkelingen een belangrijke bijdrage leveren. Nieuwe Instituut toont het werk van ontwerpers, brengt mensen met elkaar in contact, verzamelt, ontwikkelt en deelt kennis.

Global architecture and design institution The World Around will present In Focus: Precarity a global talk series taking place at the Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam, where speakers including Hsieh Ying-Chun, Afaina de Jong, Lina Ghotmeh, Rotor, Karrabing Film Collective and Assemble will convene on Saturday, June 11, 2022, for a day of provocative discussions centered on the theme of Precarity. The event asks in our precarious, fractured and entangled world, what design and architecture&#x27;s role is in these crises, and how can it be the agent of positive, actionable and inspirational change. In collaboration with Het Nieuwe Instituut, the day-long conference will bring together leading experts in architecture and associated fields including landscape, art, technology, sculpture, film, game design, and planning, who use design to heal at sites of precarity and crisis.
